Why Choose British Shorthairs?

I've always loved cats, having previously had a couple as pets although they were more of your 57 varieties moggie. These guys are a bit different! I really wanted to get a kitten a couple of years ago having not had any pet apart from Russian hamsters for several years, I thought it was time to get a pet that was a little more independent minded. I knew it would take a bit of persuasion and some careful research on breeds to win my husband around to the idea. Nick was more set on getting a dog, but that was an idea that had to be shelved with both of us working.

I'd ruled out most of the more 'exotic' breeds as I was looking for a cat that had a particular type of temperament, and that's when I came across a British Shorthair webring. Like a lot of people I'd noticed the popularity of these cats for use in adverts, particularly the Silver Tabby, but I knew very little about them apart from how they looked. I started to learn more about this wonderful breed and soon decided that they were exactly what I'd been looking for. Fortunately Nick was as quickly impressed by these cats as I was, so no arm-twisting was needed!

We've now had Denzel and Meow Meow for a year and neither of us could have imagined how much fun and how enjoyable these guys could be as pets. We feel very lucky to have them in our home and we will be delighted when our latest kitten can join us.
