1988 Jaguar XJ-S 5.3 V12 Convertible
E Reg 60,700 Miles and in excellent condition throughout
11 Months MOT, taxed until the end of September 2005
Oxfordshire

SPECIFICATION
The body is finished in refined Jaguar Racing Green with twin coachlines in red and silver. The seats, centre console and doors are trimmed in tan leather. The deep carpets match the seats, while the dashboard, centre console inserts and door inlays are burr walnut veneer.
The 286bhp 5,345cc V12 engine is wonderfully smooth and capable of using 95RON unleaded petrol, though to protect it I run it on either Shell Optimax or BP Ultimate plus an additive. The gearbox is a 3 speed automatic
The dark brown powered-operated hood is fully-lined and insulated, and includes a heated glass rear window. The hood folds back in a still-impressive 12 seconds, the pillarless rear quarter windows automatically lowering themselves at the same time. The padded hood cover can then be clipped over to maintain the smooth lines
The car has power-assisted steering, anti-lock brakes, central locking, electric windows, electric heated mirrors, cruise control and a trip computer, all of which are in full working order. Comforts include heated seats with electrically-adjusted lumbar support and a 4-speaker radio/cassette with automatic electric aerial. Although the car has air conditioning there is no gas left in the system, which has not been converted to the new R-134a gas
In place of the small rear seats of the Coupe, the XJ-S Convertible has a convenient locking stowage box

HISTORY
The car was first registered in June 1988 and owned from new by the Duke of Westminster. My father then bought the car from Jaguar dealer Henley's of Chester in April 1990 and owned it for 11 years until he passed away in March 2001, when I inherited it. It has been a fantastic car and in an ideal world I would not be selling, but the arrival of a new car meant that the XJ-S covered less than 500 miles last year
The car has been well looked after by both my father and myself, serviced annually and maintained regardless of cost. It has been garaged from new and has rarely seen rain, hence very little rust at all - even in trouble spots such as the wheel arches. At 59,000 miles all 4 brake discs and pads were replaced and calipers overhauled, top wishbone bushes replaced and new front shocks fitted. Work has mainly been carried out by the supplying main dealer or Jaguar specialists, with many invoices available (though the service book itself is incomplete). I have nearly every MOT certificate since 1990, confirming the mileage
